Oscars supporting Cardiff’s Iris Film Festival

Here at Oscars, we love getting involved with the local community. For this reason, we are proud to sponsor this year’s Iris Prize Festival, which is taking place in Cardiff from the 10^th – 14^th October.

The Iris Prize Festival is a showcase for international gay and lesbian filmmakers. This is the only film festival which allows the winner to make a new film with the help of the largest ever film festival cash prize of £25,000. The large prize sum reinforces the Iris Prize festival’s strong belief that filmmakers should be awarded with funding, support and guidance – rather than just a trophy.

There will be 30 short films competing for the prize money, as well as panel sessions with filmmakers, feature films and a fantastic closing night ceremony to see out the 4-day festival. The Iris festival takes part in three venues around Cardiff- Cineworld cinema, Chapter Arts Centre and Park Inn hotel.

Iris is a globally renowned film festival and has 18 partner festivals in 12 different countries; US-based lifestyle magazine Out described it as a ‘must attend event’ and Cardiff as an ‘increasingly Cosmopolitan capital’. So if you have a passion for indie films from the newest and freshest talent, then this festival is definitely for you.
