On Wednesday 23 May, we will be running our first ‘Very Vegetarian’ evening which will feature a special pick ‘n’ mix menu of mouthwatering vegetarian dishes, all designed to showcase the finest ingredients we can get our hands on.

We understand that vegetarians can often feel overlooked with bland, unimaginative options on many menus, which is why we are looking forward to celebrating the the sheer joy of fantastic ingredients creatively combined.

You will be able to choose three dishes from a selection of fifteen lovingly-crafted dishes, plus one side order, and all for just £12.

John was part of the Town and Country Catering team, led by Director Stephen Banks of the Best Western New House Country Hotel, Cardiff. The team prepared an exquisite lunch for the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh plus 150 prestigious guests, which included celebrities, AMs and the Welsh Rugby team.

So what was on the menu for Her Royal Highness?

To begin with, guests were treated to a canapé reception with Laurent Perrier Champagne on arrival, which was followed by a Sewin & Smoked Salmon Mousse served with a tomato & sweet pepper chutney for starters, a cannon of Welsh Lamb served with a Fondant potato, a quenelle of mint pea puree & finished with red wine reduction jus for main and coffee or tea, served with Merlin Liqueur Fudge & miniature Welsh Cakes for dessert.

John Cook said: “It was a great honour being asked to cater for such a prestigious occasion and we are thrilled everyone enjoyed the event. It was definitely a highlight of my professional career.”

We are the partner restaurant of the Iris Prize – Cardiff based international gay and lesbian short film festival. Iris has chosen Oscars as the exclusive venue for the  first Iris event of 2012 – St Dwynwen’s Day and both members and non-members are invited.
